ECF EMPLOYEE THOM KETTERER RETIRES AFTER 43 YEARS OF SERVICE

thom_elvy

In early June, Thom Ketterer was honored at a retirement luncheon at Ellwood City Forge.  Thom had 43 years of service with ECF and was a valued employee.  At his luncheon, Thom was presented with a replica of a frac block by Elvy Kirkham, Director of Sales, a reminder of his oil and gas market experiences.

Thom began his career in 1973 at Ellwood City Forge in the shop as a laborer.  In 1988, he was promoted to Manager of Manufacturing Engineering.  Since 2001, Thom has been a Product Specialist with the Sales group, specializing in ECF’s oil & gas business. Thom’s dedication and extensive knowledge of ECF and the oil and gas industry will be missed.

We wish Thom all the best in his retirement!

Northwestern PA Chapter of ASM Tours Corry Forge

ASM International, headquartered in Ohio, is the world’s largest association of metals-centric materials engineers and scientists.  For 100 years, ASM International has served the materials community by providing scientific, engineering, and technical information, as well as education, networking, and professional development.

Fifteen people from the Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of ASM were welcomed at CFC in March for a tour of the facilities.  Seven of the ASM members were from the Pittsburgh Chapter. CFC

Keith Deutsch, General  Manager,  gave the company presentation of Corry Forge Company and Ellwood Group capabilities, values, vision and community outreach initiatives, as well as employment overview and plant tour safety brief.

Nic Bunker, Ken Neu, Keith Deutsch and Bill Bennett led the tours of the destructive test lab, 2000T open die forge press, heat treat and machine shop. The group also visited the CFC West facility to tour the Advanced Heat Treat facility, machining centers (including a new large engine lathe), and automatic ultrasonic system—the first of its kind in North America for land based gas turbine testing.

The ASM group was very impressed with CorrCFC Groupy Forge Company’s capabilities and the sophisticated process of   manufacturing forgings.   This was the first time that the majority of those in attendance had witnessed the open die forge operation first-hand.

CFC was proud to show off their world class facilities!
